Summary/Abstract: In any way we talk about art, we can say that we can talk about a certain level of ambiguity. Ambiguity is given by the dichotomy through which it is seen: through the iconographic and the conceptual layer. That said, we can consider that it will be difficult for us to maintain absolute objectivity during the research. This paper aims to address the cyclicity of mediums, context and objects in contemporary art as a recurring topic since Duchamp's work. These matters of contemporary art with its trials in the recent past are relevant in Romania because they raise questions related to decontextualization and recontextualization, or rather the artist's position to decide what becomes an artistic object and what not. The beginning of the research was influenced by the author's visit to Barcelona in the spring of 2021 and their dialogue on past events such as the exhibition of the Faculty of Arts and Design’s staff members, West University of Timisoara, entitled Anexa.5.1. at the Helios Gallery in 2019.
