Summary/Abstract: Like the other components of the Romanian imprisonment system, the Danube-Black Sea Canal was an ideological endeavor. These documents clearly prove the repressive character of the measures taken to put this project into practice; many inmates continued to be detained after they had served their entire sentence and the simplest actions to make their life easier were considered counter-revolutionary activities.
