Summary/Abstract: The agreements reached by the leaders of the Great Powers at the Yalta conference created favorable conditions for the consolidation of the Soviet Union’s position in Romania, to form and keep the Petru Groza government in power: that government was not just loyal and friendly, it was also subordinated to the Soviets. The situation also served to consolidate the position of the communists in that government.
