Summary/Abstract: This paper is based on grounded theory analysis of life-stories and semi-structured interviews with people who spent their childhood in Banat during various periods of the 20th century. It discusses the mechanisms of autobiographic memory correlated with social memory, the memory connected to the micro-universe of childhood, constructed around family and the impact of great events and historical changes of the 20th century on the interviewees' childhood.
