Summary/Abstract: The deportation of Gypsies under the Antonescu regime was begun in June 1942 and it mostly affected wandering Gypsies. Trans-Dniester was the place of deportation; there, the Gypsies were grouped into colonies, had their own leadership but they were supervised by the Constables. They came back to Romania after April 1945, sent by the Soviet authorities.
