Summary/Abstract: This study aims to analyze the future evolution of the European External Action Service, using the method of competing hypotheses analysis. After a brief description of the central features of this analytical method, we make a presentation of the institution analyzed, with emphasis on organizational and functional aspects, regarding its mission, its structure and its objectives. The paper also takes into consideration the deficiencies, in order to extract evidence to confirm/refute hypotheses generated in the analytical process employed. Finally, the conclusions will highlight the probability that one of the hypotheses is more effective than the others.
