Summary/Abstract: The communists’ action to interfere with the ecclesiastical organizations reached a peak in 1948, when the Greek Catholic Church was banned and many of those who served within the Catholic and Protestant denominations began to be arrested. After 1948, the leaders of the various denominations no longer had efficient means to oppose the regime, although the believers’ resistance against communism did not disappear
