Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the collection of funeral notices and memorabilia held in the resources of the Social Life Documents unit of the University Library in Poznań. The collection includes a large number of funeral notices and commemorative cards. Both types of texts can be distinguished by their function and characteristic features, though both are related components of the consituation of the contents of the text in terms of their approach to identifying the death of a specific person. Both funeral notices and funeral cards provide significant insights and constitute an important source in relevant social research that supports a deeper understanding of our communities.
