Summary/Abstract: Mountain rescue is a complex human activity that in Poland has found its reflection in legalregulations and took the organizational form of a dedicated protection system – it has been located inthe internal security system and is its integral part. The article contains the results of scientific researchcarried out in terms of the need to prepare the characteristics of the rescue system in the mountains.To identify various appropriate organizational solutions that are functioning in many countries aroundthe world, the example of Poland was used, indicating the need to conduct an appropriate comparativestudy as the next stage of the cognitive process of mountain rescue systems. It is necessary to constantlyimprove both the discussed and all protective systems that contribute to national security, not only toincrease the effectiveness of the realization of the tasks entrusted to them, but also to optimize in relationto other key assessment criteria.
