Summary/Abstract: This article addresses the issue of broadening the perspective of one of the main challenges ofglobal security, which is Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, understood as a revisionist act of the contemporaryglobal security architecture, as well as the subject of relativizing the discourse on the shape of thecontemporary global security architecture. The active subject of this discourse is the so-called BRICS, withan aggressor – Russia – in its ranks. The aim was to reconstruct and present the general overtones of theBRICS attitude as a representative of the Global South and to explain the strategic determinants of theperspectives of Brazil, India, China and South Africa in the face of Russia’s arbitrary revisionism in Ukraine. On this basis, an attempt was then made to extrapolate the impact of this war on the prospects of the BRICSfunctioning in its campaign for the reconstruction of global security mechanisms.
