Summary/Abstract: The history of proto-Hungarians, originating from the Ugor branch of the Uralic stock, was intertwined with the Turkic peoples in a wide geography stretching from the east of the Ural Mountains to the Western-Southern Siberia as also their hypothetical ancient homeland (Urheimat). Even today, the material data of this partnership in Siberia can be seen in both anthropological-genetic and cultural phases. The information about the first known homeland of the Hungarians takes us mostly to the southern slopes of the Ural Mountains between the Kama-Yayık rivers and to the east, especially the Bashkiria region. The historical and geographical records on Hungar-Turk connection were most effectively abundant from the fifth century AD to the end of the ninth century. In this time period the Hungarians, who were generally associated with the Turks in written sources, established strong ties with the Hun-Ogur-Sabir-Khazar and Gok Turk elements.
