Summary/Abstract: The building of the Danube-Black Sea Canal had full propaganda support since its start in 1949. The literature of the Communist regime excelled at publicizing the favorable aspects of this huge Stalinist building site, emphasizing mostly its would-be economic and educational virtues, which appeared much lesser after Stalin’s death in 1953.
