Summary/Abstract: When speaking about the Holocaust in a lecture entitled Discussions or forming subjects after Auschwitz (Cerissy la Salle, 1980), Lyotard said, that we should give up speculative synthesis in the tradition of Hegel and we should not try to obtain positive results in form of ideas and/ or pictures. Didi-Huberman accused Lyotard and other thinkers, who engaged in philosophical disputes on the subject, that they stopped at the level of discussion, which was the way to once again exclude the memories of the Holocaust. While eliminating phantasm and representation, they, in fact, remove memory itself. As to images, which play the role of documents, images include not only aesthetic elements connected with events, but also ethical elements and political ideology.
