Summary/Abstract: After the end of the Second World War and the re-establishing of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Soviet Union one of the most important problem was that of repatriation of the Romanian soldiers taken prisoners in the Soviet Union, during the Eastern campaign, and between August 24 and September 12, 1944. Some of the prisoners came back to Romania as members of „Tudor Vladimirescu” volunteer division, established in October 1943 in Soviet Union. These soldiers fought for the liberation of the Romanian territory as well as Hungary and Czechoslovakia. In April 15, 1948, after countless discussions, the Soviet government communicated the decision to free all Romanian prisoners.
