Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the evolution of the Russian community in Yugoslavia, which turned into unrecognized national minority after the Second World War. In Yugoslavia on the whole, this group was statistically insignificant. Demographic visibility was more significant at the territory of Vojvodina and Belgrade. In 1948 there were 20,069 Russians in Yugoslavia, while 12,426 remained in 1953. The “cleansing” of Russian emigrants from Yugoslavia during 1948–1953 took place according to an elaborate procedure. Certain measures were performed: registration and enumeration – centralized dismissal of socially active people - expulsion / arrest due to fabricated reasons or delay in leaving the country. The looting of the property and savings followed the expulsion of the Russian emigrants, so after three decades, they left Yugoslavia in the same poor condition as when they arrived. The most painful was not the material loss, but the disappearance of personal photos, letters and diaries. Many Russian families suffered psychological traumas for the rest of their lives in the aftermath of the events from 1948–1953.
