Summary/Abstract: In linguistic research very few investigations were spent in political advertising and its function. However political advertising is used frequently in newspaper ads, brochures, articles, tabloids, flyers, radio or television presentations, digital or social media advertising as an instrument to express emotions. The article wants to fill this gap of research. First, an overview over the relations between advertising and communication is given. The author emphasizes, that the political communication is a specific communication in which citizens, political organizations and intermediaries participate. So it seems to be clear that the realizations depend on linguistic conventions. Then, the history, typology and function of the political posters in Germany are presented. As a result it can be concluded that political posters can be seen as part of the history and culture of society.
