Summary/Abstract: This article aims to investigate the problematic relations between the EU and the USA during the Trump era. As the study reveals, significant changes took place during the Trump period, that could be regarded as “rupture”. Trump adopted the (Andrew) Jacksonian foreign policy understanding. Accordingly, he espoused isolationism and unilateralism in foreign policy, self-help in international system and protectionism in international trade. In addition, when Trump came to power, he did not hesitate to put into practice the promises he had made during the election campaign. There was friction on many issues between the EU and the USA during the Trump period, with NATO, climate change, and economic and commercial problems being the most contentious issues of all.
