Summary/Abstract: Contemporary ways of musical analysis are often based on mathematical and quantitative methods. Previous investigations in the field of systems’ theoretical approach and application of synergetic principles in musicology yielded results and hypotheses tested by quantitative methods and mathematical formulations. We believe that the musicological explanation of the discovered fixed points and regularities in musical texts by quantitative methods can lead to some interesting discoveries. In several previous studies we have described the analysis and the stratification in musical texts based on rank-frequency distribution of the tone pitches. We have also used Ord´s criterion as a function of moments of a distribution for the characterization of musical texts and their development. The results gained by mathematical and statistical methods show that there are some correspondences with musicological interpretation.
