Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the activities of the employees of the two state “closed” institutions – the Soviet and the Yugoslav, in their efforts to recruit Russian emigrants. At the beginning, the anti-Bolshevik activity of the Russian emigration in the territories from Slovenia occupied by fascist Italy (Ljubljana province) is examined. After the war, each of the two countries pursued its goal according to its interests in the field of obtaining information. The Soviet security service: the NKVD (People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs), and more specifically its division “SMERSH” (Death to Spies), which also dealt with emigration, sought to recruit future Soviet citizens as collaborators. The Yugoslav Security Service OZNa (Department for the Protection of the People, which since 1946 was transformed into the State Security Administration) also directed its efforts to recruit Russian emigres in order to obtain information on the activities of Soviet secret service officers. The article is based on archival materials of Slovenia.
