Summary/Abstract: The article speaks about one of the most interesting 21st century artists - Mindaugas Lukošaitis. The cycles of his drawings are analyzed in detail, in which the artist creatively explores the themes of post-war Lithuanian partisans, the Northern War, Lithuanian Jews, the Rwandan genocide, the defense of Pilėnai (14th century), the Russian-Ukrainian war. His latest projects, aimed at visualizing the stories of local places, the identity of the town of Vandžiogala and the city of Vilnius, are also discussed. The distinctiveness of his work is revealed by showing his touch on the contexts of the historical theme in art. In the context of the artists working on historical themes, Mindaugas Lukošaitis' works seem exceptional due to the simplicity of the chosen technique and the development of the theme based on the principle of long cycles. The works contribute to the recent tendency to critically rethink the schemes prevalent in the representation of history, rejecting its mythologizing and romanticizing.
