Summary/Abstract: The article’s authors focus on the biography of Matys Pieniążek, a Krakow brewer from Wadowice. The first part of the article portrays the social environment of Peniążek’s hometown with a special emphasis put on the contemporary economic life of Wadowice. In the second part the authors analyse Matys Pieniążek’s acitvities form the moment of entering his name to the Book of Admissions to Urban Law against the background of functioning of brewing industry in the capital of Poland.
