Summary/Abstract: The book Narrative Sentiments by Nedeljka Bjelanović is the result of an effort to include the emotional area of narrative within the framework of literary research, which would study (1) the emotional spectrum of the story-telling instance, characters, as well as the natural and/or implicit author, (2) affective chronotopes and atmosphere/tone works and (3) the reader's emotional response in reception. Focusing her research on prose emotionality, the author relies on narratological studies (primarily from the field of cognitive and affective narratology), and draws theoretical conclusions based on carefully selected examples from works of Serbian and world literature. As the monograph developed primarily from the author's re-examination of feelings in connection with reading, strict scientific pretensions were not given priority over an emotionally colored attitude, which is a unique charm of this book.
