Summary/Abstract: The initiative of a group of states to promote a UN General Assembly resolution requesting an advisory opinion from the ICJ on states' obligations under general international law relating to climate protection is of particular importance. This would clarify existing international rules on the subject and open up new prospects for the practical application and development of climate law. It is thus possible to draw out the principles and unanimously accepted norms that can be applied in this field, the obligations and responsibilities incumbent on States and other international subjects, the impact of climate change on human rights and the consequences de lege lata and the related foreshadowing de lege ferenda. At the same time, the analysis and comments would offer new horizons for the affirmation of the relevant doctrine.
