Summary/Abstract: The introductory part of the paper discusses legal sources and court rulings in relation to the assessment of the quality and principles of translation of written texts. The main part contains a critical analysis of selected translational dispositions contained in the Professional Code of a sworn translator and their impact on the approach to the translation of legal and other texts.
