Summary/Abstract: One of the Romanian noble families representative for the elite of Zarand county in the Middle Ages is Moga from Hălmagiu who played an important role in the political life of the county but also in that of the western parts (Partium). The history of this noble family has been approached only tangentially in most articles and studies, starting with Traian Mager. The purpose of the article is to present and explain the evolution of the noble family Moga in Hălmagiu over two centuries, in direct connection with the economic, social and political life of Zarand County in the Middle Ages. The research conducted on the noble family Moga de Hălmagiu is based on the analysis, investigation and interpretation of medieval documents, written in Latin, kept in various archives or printed in volumes and collections of documents. A series of unique sources were accessed online, from the medieval archive of Romania. In the 15–16th centuries the Moga nobles from Hălmagiu are involved in the economic, social and religious life of Zarand county, being the most important Romanian noble family in the county, being related, by marriage with important nobles from Transylvania (Iancu de Hunedoara, the counties of Alba, Ladislau Zalanczy etc.). The Moga family founded, in the middle of the 15th century, the voivodship orthodox church, exercising its patronage over this ecclesiastical edifice in the 15–17th centuries. Several branches of the noble Moga family asserted themselves in the 15th and 17th centuries, between which there were several patrimonial conflicts in the 16th century.
