Summary/Abstract: This reflection takes us back to the problem of the fictionalization of horror, in particular that of the Rwandan genocide of 1994. We are particularly interested in the “being of the victim” trapped in the planned massacres. The novels chosen for our analyses, Murambi le livre des ossements, by Boubacar Boris Diop and l’Aîné des orphelins by Tierno Monénembo, depict the victims of atrocities, who demonstrate incredible capacities for resilience, understood as the ability to resist and overcome trauma suffered, and the effort of adaptation in a hostile environment. We analyse the writing features by which the two authors stage the experience of resilience among Tutsi victims during the genocide. Clearly, we demonstrate how the atrocities and trauma suffered and above all resilience of the victims are fictionalized.
