Summary/Abstract: This report summarises the findings of a major data collection COFACE Families Europe carried out to take stock on the needs and challenges of family carers in Europe in 2017. With more than 1,000 answers from family carers from 16 European countries, the study provides a better understanding of the situation in Europe and offers policy recommendations from family carers to better meet their needs and tackle their social exclusion. Family carers are Europe's invisible workforce, and they represent one of the most silenced, socially excluded groups. This study takes a closer look at who family carers are, and what are the main challenges they face, when it comes to accessing resources, services and flexible time arrangements.
