Summary/Abstract: On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the birth of academician Vlastimir Trajković, with this article we want to contribute to the creation of a complete picture of Trajković’s contribution to Serbian art music, by considering his family heritage, as well as his professional (compositional-pedagogical) genealogy. Our starting hypothesis is that Vlastimir Trajković perceived himself as a representative and / or mediator between three important Serbian musical “lineages“ – namely, the Milojević-Trajković, Mokranjac and Gostuški families. He was related to some of them by direct family ties, and to others by professional “networking“, as well as aesthetical and ideological similarities. Vlastimir Trajković managed to unite and affirm these influences, thus promoting himself (consciously or unconsciously) into the role of a paradigmatic Serbian composer of art music from the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. Another immediate reason for writing this article was the publication of the anthology Memorabilia I and II – Contemporary Serbian Piano Music, which was independently prepared and published by Trajković’s former students, gathered around the Arion Association from Belgrade. Although their artistic personalities are different, they are united by a common aesthetic, specifically the ancient-Romanesque-southern European-Mediterranean lineage of the music of academician Vlastimir Trajković and his disciples, with a special affinity for French, Spanish and Slavic music. These cosmopolitan influences permeate their work with the heritage of Serbian and Balkan traditional music, as well as the Byzantine-Orthodox “commonwealth“.
