Summary/Abstract: The Pozvol expedition organized in 1557th by Sigismund II August draws attention of researchers for many decades. However additional protective measures taken on the other sections of border were not noted and pointed to by now. Obviously the Lithuanian and Polish Crown armies’ march to the Livonian borderland did not equal leaving the other sections of border without the backstop. The most important from the strategic point of view was protection of southeast frontier. On the Polish Crown section of border over 2 thousand cavalry and modest, numbering one hundred of soldiers, infantry troop were left. This study is based on the treasury-military references concerning portrayed question, which remained in the Archiwum Główne Akt Dawnych in Warsaw. The analysed book with signature 61, being part of the 85th unit of the Archiwum Skarbu Koronnego (Archive of the Polish Crown Treasury), contains inspection data of polish army. The records note not only number and constitutions of units, but also information about the arms. This study points to question of organization in this grouping, presenting its number, structure and personnel.
