Amendment to the Employment Act

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses an amendment to the Act on the Residence of Foreigners (entered into the Collection of Legislation on 16 July 2019) which also led to the introduction of amendments to other acts, i.e. the Employment Act, the Trade Licence Act, the Act on Asylum and the Administrative Procedure Code. The article emphasises that the amendment primarily reflects the transposition of European Directive 2016/801/EU on the conditions of entry and residence of third-country nationals for the purposes of research, study, internships, voluntary service, student exchange programmes and educational projects and au-pair work into Czech legislation. The author points out that the amendment also influences the processes via which foreigners legalise their work activities in the Czech Republic.
