Summary/Abstract: The Expert Commission on Pension Reform was established on the basis of the Government Coalition Agreement and the Programme Declaration of the Government in May 2014. Support for the Commission's activities was provided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Wide-ranging discussions were held under the Commission's auspices by demographers, political scientists, sociologists, economists and lawyers as well as coalition and opposition politicians, social partners and representatives of the general public. The general debate on pension reform has resulted in a number of concrete proposals for change. The Commission concluded its activities in November 2017. During the three-and-a-half years of its existence, it managed to define a number of problems faced by the Czech pension system at various levels of generality and to propose suggestions for the solution thereof. A document entitled A Thesaurus of Issues Concerning and Proposals for Continuing Pension Reform offers a summary overview for those interested in the subject of pension reform.
