Holiday Processions in the Calendar of the Bulgarian Catholics from the Region of Plovdiv

Summary/Abstract: Some holiday processions in the calendar of the Bulgarian Catholics from the region of Plovdiv (St Marco and the Ascension of Christ) have been presented and analysed on the basis of field research material, personally collected. Despite of the fact that the gorgeous religious processions are among the main forms of impact on the Neophites (former Pavlikiani) on the part of the Church of Rome, the holiday sets and customary structures studied have preserved their older appearance and their genetic relationship with the all-Bulgarian calendar system of holidays.
