Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the analysis of barriers to parenting among lesbian, gay and bisexual individuals (LGB) and their preferences of ways to parenting. The article uses data from a representative survey conducted in mid-2019 on the topic of parenting desires and intentions of persons with non-heterosexual identities. The data obtained from 377 LGB individuals are compared to a specific group of 374 heterosexuals. The analysis showed that parenting is strongly associated mainly with heterosexual identity and partly with bisexual one, however a considerable number of homosexuals would like to become a parent, too. The main barriers to parenthood in the case of LG individuals constitute mainly legal obstacles (along with the support of people from their close social environment). Parenting is mainly associated with biological parenting for people with heterosexual and partly bisexual identities. Lesbians and gays are much more open to social parenting. This finding raises the question of some legislative amendments on support for becoming a parent among LG people.
