Summary/Abstract: Based on the lists of subscribes, the paper discusses the culture of the Serbs in Vukovar and the environs, related to distinguished families, among which the family of Branko Radičević stands out. A particular focus is placed on the role of Vuk Karadžić and well-known creators from Vukovar. Eminent individuals include Joksim Nović Otočanin, Teodor Radičević, Dimitrije Popović. The paper outlines the works of prose and poetry of subscribers from Vukovar, who were associates of various journals and magazines. Also analysed is the structure of subscribers, among whom traders, priests, civil servants, teachers and pupils, and some craftsmen, are particularly prominent. The books to which they were subscribed – prose works, poetry, plays, history, as well as professional books, intended for education and use in schools – are also highlighted.
