Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the topic of translucency in architecture on the example of contemporary architectural objects in the context of Japanese culture. Based on Jun’ichirō Tanizaki’s theoretical assumptions, such as the contrast between eastern and western sensibilities and aesthetics, the author attempts to find confirmation of Tanizaki’s theory in contemporary Japanese projects in which translucency was used.
