Summary/Abstract: The topic of social farming has surfaced in recent years in the Czech Republic on the basis of Western European inspiration and good experience and also as a result of the dynamic development of social entrepreneurship in both the European and Czech contexts. Moreover, it also appears to be a sustainable practice operating as an integral part of multifunctional agriculture, innovative approaches to social integration, especially in rural areas, and as an alternative method for the performance of social work. This article forms a contribution to issues surrounding social farming in the Czech Republic, a topic which, to date, has been accorded only limited attention. Further, it aims to provide Czech readers with the details of this concept and to introduce our experience to date on the basis of a summary of the results of a study entitled "The potential for the application of the concept of social farming in social inclusion policies in rural areas" which was written in 2015 for the Social Inclusion Agency of the Czech Government Office. At the same time, the concept is also related to social entrepreneurship, which describes the complex reality of those organisations whose main motivation is to provide services and products for the purpose of benefiting society.
