Summary/Abstract: The recent jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court on legal conflicts of constitutional nature between the President and the Government proves an important tendency of the court to redimension the powers of the head of the state, as to the way they result from the text of the Fundamental Law. Although, the debates on the typology of the Romanian political regime, reaching the peak between 2007 and 2013, do not stir up discussions as intense as in the past, the center of the theoretical and practical concerns went to the role and to the concrete tasks exercised by the President in the architecture of current institutional arrangements. Starting from the thesis according to which a clear distinction can be drawn between the qualities of the head of the state and the head of the executive, we will analyze how the institution of the President evolves in the current political and legal context, demonstrating, besides this, that, despite all the critics, the semi-presidential character of the autochthonous regime remains inarguable.
