Summary/Abstract: In the period from September 26 to 28, 2022, the 10th Anatomy of the Island symposium was held on the island of Lastovo. The first five-year cycle of this international scientific-professional symposium on islands, started in 2012, was held on the island of Vis, and then the second cycle took place on Lastovo. This year's theme of the symposium was Climate change and the environmental future of the island. Namely, islands are on the front line of facing the challenges of adapting to climate change, and island communities are pioneers in finding and implementing sustainable climate solutions and in developing their own climate resilience strategies. Although vulnerable to everything that the Anthropocene brings, the islands in many aspects slow down its dominance in these localities. In the same way, the islanders have been building their own local knowledge for centuries, that is, specific cultural responses that enabled them to deal with weather and natural disasters. Island communities developed specific forms of sociability and solidarity in everyday life, especially in times of crises and disasters. However, as the climate and environment change, so do island societies. Thus, modern littoralization, deagrarianization, concretization, tourism, and depopulation strongly and most often adversely affect island strategies and practices of resistance to environmental extremes. Symposium organizers therefore, inspired by multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches, invited experts from different fields to join discussions that will enable the mapping of new imaginaries of island futures in which local knowledge will be the starting point and inspiration for the challenges of new climate transformations.
