Summary/Abstract: The article aims at presenting the trend of the “enchantment with the body” in Julian Przyboś’ poetry, the trend which had developed parallel to his love and war poetry. The thesis on a specific relationship of the body and the word refers to the primary research perspective, i.e. the poetics of gaze, exemplified in this poetry on several occasions by the motive of an eye and its metonymic substitutes (seeing, looking, etc.). The description of the body and the physiological issues in Przyboś’ work calls for attention to the following issues: self-identification procedures, attempts at “embodying” the poetic word, as well as the somatic motives in the late works of the poet.
