Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the views of the representatives of the New Education Movement for the child and his upbringing and education. The main theoretical achievements of the new pedagogy are clarified: the value of the child and his perception as an active being in relation to the environment in which he lives, grows and is brought up. The new education is based on the principles of active pedagogy with its main characteristics: pedocentrism, the leading role of psychology, the relationship interest-needs, the relationship teaching-life. Unlike the traditional new school is open and connected with life around. In it the child lives his real life, and the knowledge he receives is based on his experience and connection with reality. The new education is opposed to the traditional education in terms of goals, methods, the concept of the child, the program and the educational content, the role of the teacher in the educational process, the discipline, the pedagogical approach.
