Summary/Abstract: As intended by Christopher Isherwood and Susan Sontag camp was supposed to be an aesthetic notion associated with a contesting gay attitude and a conscious overstating of form. At present, the career of the drag queen phenomenon has on the one hand linked camp with popular culture, on the other, contributed to the popularity of the notion of camp in gender theories.
