Summary/Abstract: The present article provides a brief overview of the reception of Scandinavian literature in Bulgaria and focuses mainly on the Swedish novelist Selma Lagerlöf and her book The Wonderful Adventures of Nils. Its aim is to analyze the first and only Bulgarian translation of this children’s classic and to provide general information about all its Bulgarian editions. The article describes also different translation techniques and examines the role of ideology in translation in the light of the reception of famous Nordic authors in Bulgaria.
