The economic situation and the extent of risk of social exclusion in households with elderly and pre-pension age persons

Summary/Abstract: The article contains the most important findings on the economic situation and consequent risk of social exclusion, gathered by means of empirical research, involving elderly and pre-pension age persons living in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. The empirical research contained selected questions aimed at revealing the non-economic risk of social exclusion and mapped the range of services used by respondents and the most important factors which influence their interest in taking advantage of the various services. The empirical research also focused on a range of other issues related to the social environment, social relationships, lifestyle preferences, use of information technology, etc. of this group. Based on the topics studied in the empirical investigation, the article devotes attention to findings regarding the economic situation of the respondents and their households and to an assessment of the extent of the risk of social exclusion of the monitored group of people specifically in relation to these questions.
