Summary/Abstract: The financing of nursing care in residential social services institutions has long been one of the most pressing problems in terms of the provision of social services. Health insurance institutions, in contradiction with applicable legislation, do not pay social service providers the costs of doctors' services and the care of nursing staff, exert pressure on doctors not to record this form of residential care and, through their inspection role, attempt to minimise the extent of the care actually provided and which they are obliged to fund. The paper analyses the results of a field survey on the extent of nursing care in residential social care facilities which was conducted at the end of 2014, provides a comparison of the results obtained with the actual funding provided by health insurance institutions for this type of care, and subsequently propose a solution that will remedy the deficiencies of the current system.
