Summary/Abstract: The study aims to analyze the public police service from the perspective of its role in meeting the expectations of the people, putting themselves at their service. Determining such a role requires an interdisciplinary approach that equally covers legal, political, sociological, social psychology components and from the perspectives of the specific disciplines of the public policy and national security area. In this way, we can identify several roles: protection, prevention, safety, trust, sanction and education.
