Summary/Abstract: Review of the publication „The financing of healthcare systems in the context of Czech healthcare policy“ − Mertl, Jan: Financování zdravotnických systémů: v kontextu české zdravotní politiky. Praha: Wolters Kluwer, 2022, 263 pages, ISBN 978-80-7676-505-4 The assessed monograph is dedicated to the multilevel issue of the financing of healthcare. The interpretation of the issue is supported by the extensive research experience of the author, including the analysis of foreign healthcare systems. The reader is, thus, provided with a number of theoretical insights. However, the monograph does not only address the theoretical level; indeed, it also includes a series of analyses that are anchored in practice and offer recommendations for the Czech healthcare system. The publication will appeal to a wide range of readers - from students to experienced academics in a number of study programmes and scientific fields that are involved in the regulation of the financing of the healthcare sector. It will also prove useful for politicians and those involved in setting the parameters of the healthcare system. No book with a similar focus is available in the Czech market, which adds extra weight to the contribution and academic value of Jan Mertl's latest publication.
