Summary/Abstract: The police authorities in the Republic of Bulgaria carry out activities for the protection of national security and public order, for which they are granted a number of powers in terms of type and nature. The application of these powers is consistent with the nature of the offense committed and the degree of its public danger. Shooting training is a prerequisite for the lawful actions of law enforcement officers in situations with a high degree of risk and when it is necessary to use a firearm. The aim of the training is to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills and habits for using firearms in cases of absolute necessity. Knowledge of the weapons systems in the Ministry of Internal Affairs helps to improve the confidence of the employees in the performance of their duties, as well as to dispose of armed perpetrators of crimes. The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs should be able to use the firearm entrusted to them safely and quickly, and this requires in-depth knowledge of firearms and ammunition acquired through their study in shooting training classes.
