Summary/Abstract: The present study tries to argue that in the treatise 'On Trinity', written by Augustine of Hippo, the model by which the human being comes to know the divine nature is reducible to a structure similar to Meno’s paradox from the homonymous Platonic dialogue. The main argument is that Augustine sketches in the prologues of the first five books of his work analogous positions to the extreme terms of the mentioned paradox, repeatedly offering the solution of the paradox by invoking the structure of the relationship between the Father and the Son; their equality, simultaneous to the superiority of the Father over the Son, shows that the structure of this to be known object guarantees the possibility of man’s escape from the mentioned paradox in the case of divine knowledge.
