Summary/Abstract: According to the recommendations of UNESCO, the content of sustainable development has long been implemented in the study programs of higher education institutions. In general, in today's 21st century, the representation of sustainable development in the general process of lifelong learning at higher education institutions is increasingly becoming a priority. In this paper the representation of the content of sustainable development in the study programs / curricula of the University of Bihać at two faculties - the Islamical Pedagogical Faculty (IPF) and the Biotechnical Faculty (BTF) is analyzed. The results of the quantitative and qualitative analysis indicate that in the analyzed 7 courses of the four-year study of the first-cycle, there is a high percentage of implementation of the content of sustainable development in the subject curricula. In general, at IPF, the representation of compulsory and elective courses with the content of sustainable development by major is over 50%. At BTF, the representation of sustainable development content is also high, around 60% (except in the Department of Food Technology, where the percentage is low at 39.1%). The research results also showed a high level of knowledge about sustainable development at both higher education institutions, ie at IPF 47.5% (19 participants), at BTF 74.0% (37 participants). In general, based on the student’s answers, the research shows that they are sufficiently aware in the field of sustainable development and that the implementation of modern learning and teaching methods as well as the forms and methods of work are well represented.
