EDUCATION AND FUTURE CHALLENGES

Summary/Abstract: The transformation of society has led to changes in the sphere of education, which sparked the interest of sociologists to try to find out what these changes consist of and how they affect education. This paper discusses some complex phenomena which characterize contemporary post-industrial societies and how education has changed in the context of social change. The fundamental questions raised in this discussion are: what is the function, purpose, goal, and task of education in today's rapidly changing society, what is the immediate future and perspective of education in the postmodern period, and what should education be like in the future. In the context of the changing role of education in contemporary societies, the paper questions the impact of information technology on education and emphasizes the importance of the concept of lifelong learning. What is considered afterward are the implications of modern processes of globalization on education and the perspective of education in the postmodern period. This paper summarized some of the conflicting trends in education, including the question of growing social inFacultyequalities and the implications for equality in education.
